I have a pond in my yard, and a lotus plant in that pond. Last summer I watched as the shoot went up and the blossom formed. For a couple of days it looked like the blossom would open, so I set up my camera to make a timelapse of the event. First day, the blossom opened part way, then closed. The second day, the blossom opened fully, then closed. The same happened on the third day. Rain and cold marked the fourth day, and the blossom did not open. The next day all the petals fell off. What you see in the video below is from the third day. Last week I found the seed pod in the yard, complete with a seed still in it. Life begets life.
The lotus flower is a symbol of life, of purity, of resurrection and new life. How fitting at this time, as members of the Jewish faith celebrate Passover and Christians exult with the Easter season. Buddhist legend holds that where the Buddha walked, lotus flowers appeared with his every step. So many religions, so much symbolism. Today is a fitting day to acknowledge this beautiful expression of life. May your life be fuller, more joyful and peaceful with this video.
When fully formed, the blossom looks like this:
Enjoy this timelapse video of a day in the life of a lotus blossom.

Lucky you, you don’t have to travel far for lotus blossoms. I wrote about the life of a lotus blossom a few years back mainly what I found on a Buddhist Temple website. Here are mine, you will find the link to the temple there too.
